First up in our roll-call of artists is the fabulous Nick White.
Nick combines found imagery with drawing and painting to create myriad surfaces of faces, eyes, pattern and texture. Motifs mingle with symbols and signs, plucked from their original contexts, in unexpected combinations. This creative outpouring manifests itself in books, drawings, prints, animation and films. Nick’s work revolves around (in)consistent (anti)themes and styles; nostalgic pop culture; uncanny mis-matchings, and birds, to name but a few.
He has illustrated for the likes of the L.A Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, The V&A, The New York Times and Nobrow to name but a few.
His stall at ART FLEA will include all manner of joyous visual ephemera, either created by himself or one of his pals. Expect screenprints, Risographs, posters, tee shirts, zines, ceramics, genuine fake tattoos and anything else he can lay his hands on.
Nick will also be bringing his ‘hand-drawn tattoo parlour’, as showcased at the V&A Friday Lates, where he’ll draw you a tattoo – animal, mineral or vegetable. There will be limited spaces (as Nick’s hand gets tired) so make sure to go and book a slot… not to be missed!
We can’t wait!
