After years of building cameras as part of community projects Fotonow photographers Jonathan Blyth and Matthew Pontin dreamed of becoming more mobile. And so the Camper Obscura project was born! A 1986 VW T25 camper van was transformed into a giant fully-functioning camera obscura on wheels. The blue periscope is in fact a lens and mirrors pointing skyward giving the viewer inside a 360 degree view of the surrounding area. It’s a captivating experience where the viewer feels completely removed from the surrounding landscape and details of even the most mundane scene, that would usually be overlooked, suddenly become of interest.
